People and Land Webinar on New Economy Places

Much has been written on the New Economy, and the need for communities to foster innovation, strengthen networks, develop green infrastructure, and enhance quality of place. Based on site visits to 50 higher performing new economy communities in 18 states, this presentation showcases real strategies from real communities.
David Ivan will be our presenter. Dave is the MSU Extension Central Region Director. He received his bachelor's degree in Agricultural Communications from Michigan State University and his MBA from Penn State University.
Dave's areas of expertise include community and economic development, community leadership, and land use issues. He is a certified instructor for both the NxLevel and Going Solo adult and youth entrepreneurship courses, and he provides one-on-one couseling for businesses. He also serves as a certified instructor for the MSU Extension Citizen Planner Program for both the Tools and Techniques and Economic Development modules. Dave has facilitated team-building and strategic planning for groups within and ouside of Extension.
Dave has served as the primary investigator for two research projects examining best practices in smaller communities, and has conducted numerous small community vitality educational programs with the Michigan Municipal League. He has also authored articles on small town successes.
